Categories: Alumni, Public sector

***Alumna of the Ashoka Visionary Program (CEE) 2022/2023***

Verena Ahne was born and grew up in Graz and studied social and cultural anthropology in Vienna. She worked for several environmental NGO’s before she started her career as a science, medical, and environmental journalist. Verena’s articles appeared in media like DIE ZEIT, Gehirn&Geist, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Presse, Der Standard, and many more. For the past five years, Verena led the science communication and outreach activities of a young Viennese research institution. Currently, she is on sabbatical leave (“Bildungskarenz”).

Verena deeply cares for nature and engages since many years in keeping the Earth a safe and livable place not only for her own child and the human generations to come, but for all living beings. To reach that goal, she thinks that we need nothing less than a great Great Transformation — and people who raise awareness for the necessary changes, to begin with. Verena wants tobe one of them.
