***Alumna of the Ashoka Visionary Program (CEE) 2021/2022***

After studying economics and social studies in Vienna, Rosa started to work as a teacher in a Viennese middle school. This opportunity was given through the leadership program from Teach for Austria, an Austrian NGO that tackles the problem of educational injustice in Austria.

While teaching Rosa realized how hard it is for youth from disadvantaged backgrounds to engage in leisure activities. Since 350.000 children in Austria live in poverty the costs for a soccer club or dancing lessons can be quite a problem for the families.

Therefore, Rosa Bergmann founded the Vienna Hobby Lobby, together with her co-founders. The aim is to provide free leisure activities with the help of voluntary course instructors, who become role models for the children. The Hobby Lobby is now running for 3 years with 4 locations in Vienna, and 3 locations in the countryside in planning.

In 2019 Rosa started her master degree in social economy and social work, which she will graduating in June 2022.

“The Ashoka Visionary Program has inspired me on many levels. Every single module has initiated new thought processes in me and thus resulted in exciting changes for my work and my team. At the same time, I met many inspiring people who are still part of my network today. Last but not least, I have also developed personally and acquired new skills.”
