Since 2015, Karin Ondas is the General Secretary of Sozialwirtschaft Steiermark – the Styrian umbrella organization of NGOs providing services for people with disabilities. Main objectives are the development of joint positions, supporting innovative practices and exchanging ideas with decision-makers and stakeholders.
Karin Ondas studied Political Science, Sociology, Philosophy and Journalism at Vienna and Tel Aviv University and is an accredited adult educator. Empowerment, enhancement of Human Rights and citizenship education are guiding principles in her professional endeavors. After getting in touch with peace education and youth encounters, she moved to Jerusalem in 2002 and was involved in the set-up of a center for encounters and communication.
After moving to Graz in 2004, she was involved in projects focusing on the strategic development of the University of Graz; in managing a feminist project center; and in providing advice for the Styrian Gender Equality policy. In her leisure time, she enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband, two children, extended family and friends.
