Hisham El Rouby is the Regional Director for the Arab World at Synergos, focusing on the promotion of social entrepreneurship, youth volunteerism and employment. Under Hisham’s leadership, Synergos has built the largest network of social entrepreneurs in the region, and strengthened the skills and employability of over 5000 young people. Prior to joining Synergos, Hisham founded ETIJAH, Egypt’s leading youth development organization, which matches youth with volunteer opportunities in the private and nonprofit sector.

He is the author of “Volunteerism and Managing Volunteers”, published by the American University in Cairo in 2013. He has written manuals for UNICEF and the World Bank on youth development and civic education, authored scripts for television programs for nonprofits, and worked with numerous institutions on community development, including the European Union and the Near East Foundation. Hisham was the first Ashoka fellow selected in the Arab region, an Aspen fellow and a Synergos Senior Fellow.
