Georg Schön

Georg is Country Co-Director of Ashoka Austria. Before Ashoka, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to create an organization for the development of socio-economic projects in Mexico, to develop a program of study for social entrepreneurs in Austria and to found a consulting firm specializing in environment and development. Schön served as program manager for the United Nations Development Program in Macedonia and was responsible for projects relating to climate change and energy. In the scope of his duties with the UNDP he helped build a Green Business Initiative in the Black Sea region. He has published books and audio-visual materials on this topic.

He earned degrees in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Vienna and Political Economy from the Vienna University of Business and Economics. He has worked on environmental, socio-economic and peace-building projects for NGOs and international organizations in Mexico, Austria and Southeast Europe.
